Daily Analysis for Wednesday August 12th

Correction:We are of course not overdue for a MD low. As I had in the back of my mind that we could come out of a MD and MW low today I expected to push up hard and find session support. I was therefore not in the mindset to short today, and therefore missed the short opportunities after the open. Being completely off with my expectations I am happy to say that I did not take any stupid trades, and therefore ended the day without having taken a single trade.

Theta Relaxation

I have started experimenting with brain entrainment, where the underlying concept is that the brain will adapt to external stimuli. So if you play a slow rhythm the brain will also slow down its activity based on the pace of the pulse.  You will find brain waves with many different frequencies at a time. Some are relaxing and some can be stressful.

One of my goals is to reduce the beta brainwaves, which are associated with stress and agitation, as being stressed impacts how you perceive reality. Therefore I exported the following sound track:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5933921/Theta%20Relaxation.mp3 (45 minute version)

Never use this sound track when driving a car or performing any task that requires you to be alert!

  1. Sit down and relax
  2. Start listening to the sound track, preferably with head phones.
  3. Close your eyes
  4. Focus on the pulsing sound behind the music. The music needs to be loud enough to hear this sound.
  5. Just notice how you become more and more relaxed.
  6. Ensure that you listen to the whole sound file, as the last minutes takes you back to an alert state.
For the more curious - here is the brain wave diagram for the session:

Brain entrainment is a large research area. If you are interested you can get a short introduction here: http://www.brainwavesblog.com/tag/alpha-brainwave/
